I love my Android phone

As you can see from my previous post... I was just about had it with the iPhone. So I switched to an Android phone. I got a Galaxy S Captivate, still from AT&T. Same network, same plan - only difference being the device - And what a difference! I can make calls, I don't have calls drop, I don't have static and all kinds of weird interference.

Not to mention, the Android interface is more of what I expect. I prefer the drag-and-drop over sync'ing with iTunes, even though it does sync with my iTunes library. I am able to put ring tones however I please, create them on the phone for free! Try that with an iPhone, all don'ts where the Android has yes's.

Though people might not be convinced to leave their iPhone, I for one will never go back to it. Too stifled for my taste. I'd rather not leave my choices up to Mr Jobs. I want to modify and customize as I please, thank you very much.

Just the ability to make phone calls should be reason enough to switch. People would get very upset at me when I would repeatedly try and call them from my iPhone, it was embarrassing. Image quality is awesome, great camera, video camera... not to mention video playback is awesome. I can't wait to see what the Galaxy S II brings.

yes, you read it right.

I have used the phone for a full year now, i have the 3G one. And now am ready to move on, it was innovative and got all the other phone makers off their asses but now im done with it.

There are two things that make me hate the iPhone; AT&T and technical issues that arent addressed by Apple. AT&T 3G's service is crap, its really slow and spotty. It is really really slow, the company knows it... they should lower their price because you can hardly use it. Not to mention that phone calls get dropped all the time, and very often people cant hear you. Ive been getting a lot of calls where the callers voice is scrambled and all i hear is white-noise.

The other thing that really upsets me about the phone is that it has some serious glitches, like when the phone rings it makes my laptop lose its wireless connection. Battery life is really short, too bad they never made the battery replaceable. Not being able to plug in external storage cards really sucks too. I really miss being able to drag and drop files. Having to sync with a computer is just not right, wireless sync should be used.

These are among the many complaints i have. This is not to say that the iPhone has a lot of great features, but other phones are catching up to it in providing PDA type of utilities. My final words on the iPhone are that it is a shitty phone, but a great PDA.

A long ways from when I started here at NBC.com

When I started I was given the duty of fixing broken sites, then updating forgotten sites.

Some of them like the Chris Matthews page were long forgotten, copyright dates were 2 years expired and none of the links worked. Went in and fixed it all up then the show took it over... success. Other sites just had lots of broken link and broken code to the point that the page was blank on the browsers. fixed them all up and got them running again.

Next came a whole sleuth of sites, NBCUniCareers, NBCUNI, TheMoreYouKnow, Green Initiative, NBCUOnTheSet, VirtualNBC, etc.

The Careers site was a lot of work, when i got the project NBC and Universal had separate careers sites. when the companies merged, I had the pleasure of coordinating both companies HR's departments and GE Corporate HR to merge them into one. Yup spend lots of days sitting in meetings to work things out... but today its only one site with multiple points of entry.

Sites like Universal HD and SleuthTV were long forgotten, really ancient code. I went in and reformatted the sites, brought them back to life, then the networks took interest in them and actually put money on the table to redesign them.

Then came the most fun of these, and one of my bigger projects at the time, ChillerTV. Was there to launch a network from the ground up. Had great success, tried many formulas to get the site firmly grounded. Had the opportunity to run contests and build social clubs with great success. I still talk to other divisions and they know the great success that the Chiller user submitted movie contest was *(Dare To Direct).

I gained nough experience to be given my current projects, The Jay Leno Show site, and Jay Lenos Garage. I believe these will be my best work yet... stay tuned.

iPhone 3.0

Apple has just released the 3.0 software update... though at first i thought i had bricked it because it wasnt responding, it did the software and firmware upgrade without a problem. Just sync'd my S9 Bluetooth headphones and they work amazingly well. Im very happy with the update. two other items i tried and worked really well are the voice notes and copy-and-paste. The stocks app its got some new features and are really helpful. I will have to see over the long term if the news section it pulls up is actually relevant.

It seems the signal from the bluetooth is stronger and crisper from the iPhone than from the MacBook Pro, very interesting. The MBP seemed to pick up a lot of static and the iPhone is very clear. The bluetooth headphone controls arent all working, you can control play and pause but not skip or return. maybe they will fix this glitch. when you are using the bluetooth headphones the volume control is hidden in the iTunes app.

Its great that a lot more apps support the widescreen keyboard for typing.

My S9 bluetooth headphones rock!

I had been using wired headphones and yanking them on a regular basis till they came up with bluetooth stereo headphones...

My first pair (see entry below) were short lived since it fell apart right away. And the quality sucked.

These S9 headphones are really good, sound is very acceptable *wired headphones are better.

they sync to my MacBook Pro easily and stay connected which was a problem with my previous pair. Battery life is exceptionally long, 5-6 hours on a charge. about 30 feet range wich works great when you are working around the room near your source. I had purchased (separately) a bluetooth dongle for hooking it up to a Winblow$ XP machine and that worked too... too bad i lost the dongle since it was tiny.

I recomend to anyone looking for wireless headphones, these are great. Not audiophile quality sound but it's very clear and lightweight. for me the behind the ear positioning isnt bad, while some people had mentioned that they dont like behind the ear headphones.

it also works great as a bluetooth headset for phones, but it really its a shame that stupid Apple hasnt released bluetooth headphone codecs yet. they said it will be included in iPhone 3.o software update but we will see. I really want to sync it with my iPhone to listen to music and podcasts.

I say this is something everyone NEEDS.

Went shopping for the first time at this small market near my house. Been kinda sick of shopping at Ralphs and all their bullshit, and the local hispanic markets. One, Ralphs sucks when it comes to their prices (ridiculously expensive), the cashiers are rude, always have shady characters asking for money at the door and throught the parking lot... yes, i live in Lost Angeles.
Two, hispanic markets have slightly lower prices, but boy, they feel like you are in a third world country... dirty, unorganized and everything looks like it's on its last day before expiration. (That's another thing, i've bought milk at Ralphs several times thats been after its expiration date) So this brings me to my point, Fresh & Easy, i walked in expecting really expensive individually packaged produce... but i just had to check it out. To my surprise, really inexpensive and great produce. The store was really clean and well organized. Great selection of produce. must note that they do one thing, and not try and have a pharmacy or hardware depts. I was surprised at the "Green" emphasis and "Organic" selections. The checkout was somewhat puzzling, its like the Home Depot's self check-out. But I think I will be shopping there from now on. = )

On Oct 9th night... someone trew gasoline on this poor homeless man, and set him on fire. he lived on 3rd street, and died at the hands someone bent on proving how caloused they were. well they succeeded, they proved they were the most caloused people in Lost Angeles. Also, proved how ignorant and stupid people can become. This act was a few steps below the mass executions of the Nazis, the Khmer Rouge, and the all infamous mass murderers of history. They didnt just kill an innocent man, they proved that humanity isnt any better today. Regardless of how you feel about a homeless man, you have to admit to yourself that killing of an innocent man makes us all more vulnerable. Morality decays all the more faster when acts like this happen. We should all worry that these individuals are still on the loose.

As an avid web user... I come across all kinds of stuff on the net. For the most part it is safe for your computer to surf just about anywhere. But everynow and then you see a pop up that wants to install something on your system. Thankfully I am using a mac and a.) i get a pop up that something wants to attach itself to my system, b.) its usually a PC virus as a .exe that just bounces off. Since seeing that kind of stuff I am less likely to use my PC's for browsing, browse on a mac specially if youa re going to sites unknown... I read this very interesting article on privacy, click here. And began installing add-ons to my firefox browser. I can't wait till Google Chrome is available for the Mac, seems to do a lot of things i want. They mention IE has a lot of built in safety but M$ has a shitty history of putting things together. Since Chrome is a memory hog and IE sux, i would go with Firefox and just install a few blocking plug-ins. Surf away but do it safely, nothing worse than a virus infested machine.

Saw this movie, and though I was going in with relatively low expectations... this turned out about as fun as sucking on a lemon. had a few moments where it was funny, mostly in the beginning. but then fell apart very quickly, one absurd stunt after another, no thought how absurd it was forthe characters to do them.

Had potential, but really lets you down. Not over the top where its a tongue-in-cheek funny, and not a serious comedy either. hard to compare it to anything else, because it doesnt really choose what kind of movie it wants to be.

This is one movie that insults the audiences Iq.

My bluetooth headphones broke... p.o.s.

Well, it had to happen, I knew it was innevitable... My set of LG HBS-200 Bluetooth headphones finally broke. The theory behind it was great, but the reality was just heartbreaking. I really wanted this product to work, but its just ahead of its time. The sound quality was awful, the range was suxors... and then it broke. Incompatible with XP, only could use it on OSX. The experience of a cordless headphone was great, but the bluetooth part of it was just upsetting, half the time it didnt connect. I paid 50$ for it, and well, i think i want my money back. so long LG, i hope there is something better on the market now.

gezuz it sux being single.... holy cow!! No wonder people pay lots of cash to get purchase wives... well, not that, it is right, just saying... I don't condone it, but "i can understand why" (in a Chris Rock voice). So, year is off to a shaky start, continued.... hmmm. But! I have a feeling something good is around the corner, I think I might win the Lotto this year (Note to self, buy more lotto tickets.. no wait, start buying lotto tickets). In fact, I should cheer up, im close to another yearly raise. Not that they break the bank and trample over each other in giving me more money, but every little helps. I had a conversation with my tax man today, and he was pointing out the long ways I've come. He has known me for a long time. And in fact, yes, i have made a lot of headways in this life. (yeah yeah, lets forget for a minute all the monumental errors I've made).

All in all, life is good, but just full of potholes... gezuz, if anyone is reading this, just be forewarned there are some huge pitfalls in the road of life... some can swallow up an 18wheeler.

I loaded Vista on my MacBook Pro, business level... and I must say it's pretty cutesy... a lot more like Mac OSX but somehow... its nothing but eye candy... with no programs installed, Vista is taking nearly 8gigs of HD. Its a lot more elegant than XP but it doesnt hold a candle to OSX. I am still looking around it, but just seems like a lot of window dressing for the same old trailer home. ps. for some fucking reason, the clock wont keep the time in Vista, it just randomly jumps around... wtf is up with that...

so i ended up buying a MacBook Pro and its pretty sweet... runs very well... yup i bought the one that runs really hot.. you can cook eggs on it... but, its a pretty good machine... I really wish they come up with a new tower design, its just not very inspiring, takes a shitload of room and looks like a room heater... oh well... guess we'll just have to settle for an horribly expensive iPhone for now... but no fucking way am i signing up for Cingular... that's the most idiotic thing ever, why not just sell unlocked phones... oh well... life goes on.

The new mac desktops have been announced... and im terribly disappointed... im downright sad, no new design, same ugly toaster look.

its a shame that they continue to make things less "pretty" and exponetially less stable. once you could rest assured your mac wouldnt crash at random. but now its just like a pc, sudden crashes are the norm. lots of programs are incompatible with it, and others just run slow. not to mention horribly expensive...

yet winblow$ sucks even more... what is a guy to do....

so i went and bought a pc.. (sigh)

an HP m1270n P4 3.0Ghz 1 gig ram...

seems to have enough muscle...

nowadays it seems you need more than 1 computer... Macs pwn, but there is a few things that only pcs do (for now)

my expectations are very low, having used PCs in the past.

oh well...

went and bought a TV for the office (13 incher, the tv is also)... all i want to ask is... who the fuck thought of recycling fees? i had to pay 6$ fee on a 60$ tv , justpisses me off... kinda like underhanded rippoff... sux sux

i took the bus to work today.. gad was it crowded.
since gas prices are so high more and more ppl take the bus, which in itself is the suxorz.

i suppose if i "had" to ride the bus my life would suxorz too, but i only ride it cause i get a monthly bus pass at work for 2$ which if i ride it more than twice a month more than pays for itself.
